The Good Visitor Promise sets out how we ask visitors to behave when they visit this area. Brought to life through a short animation, it encourages respect for our communities, care for our environment and support for local people – helping to ensure tourism benefits everyone, now and for generations to come.
The Good Visitor Promise has been co-designed by the Ards and North Down Borough Council Sustainable Tourism Group, a partnership of organisations, which includes the Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership, from across the council area working together through the Community Planning Partnership to shape a more sustainable future for our area.
By bringing together communities, tourism operators, environmental organisations and public sector partners, the Group has developed a message that reflects what matters most to the people who live and work here.
The Good Visitor Promise invites everyone to play their part:
- Respect our landscapes and wildlife
- Support local people and businesses
- Travel responsibly
- Reduce waste and conserve resources
- Be kind to communities and fellow visitors
- Learn about and celebrate local heritage
Together, these small actions help protect what makes this place special – now and for future generations.
