Slieve Gullion DEA invites you to a public meeting

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has recently introduced a model of community engagement that will modernise the way they work and help them to provide better, more effective services for residents. Through the establishment of seven District Electoral Area (DEA) Fora, the Council is bringing decision-making closer to local people and creating opportunities for all sections of the community to get involved in discussions that will shape the future of their area.

The Slieve Gullion DEA Forum will be made up of seven Elected Members and eight representatives from the voluntary, community and business sectors. Members of the Forum will work with key statutory partners to identify local issues and develop action plans for each DEA, which will inform and influence the community planning process.

The Slieve Gullion DEA is seeking nominations for membership from representatives with expertise across a range of themes including rural development, sport, tourism and community safety. It is anticipated that potential Forum members should also be able to demonstrate representation on behalf of a local network of groups rather than just their own. To have a say about the future of your area and learn more about the DEA nominations process, council would like to invite you to the first public meeting of the Slieve Gullion DEA Forum on:

Tuesday 1st March at 7.00pm in Bessbrook Community Centre

This meeting will also include information and consultation workshops about the forthcoming PEACE IV programme.
