Help search out squirrels and pine martens in the Ring of Gullion

The Ring of Gullion and Cooley Red Squirrel Group have joined up with the Red Squirrels United project to carry out a survey of red/grey squirrel and pine martens across Northern Ireland in the coming months.

The project will use camera traps to monitor the distribution of red/grey squirrels and pine martens in the area. No experience is needed and members of the public are welcome to get involved.

Volunteers will be required to work in pairs to set up the camera and feeder in a wooded area for a week and then take down the equipment when finished.

The Red Squirrel United project are hoping to find out more about the distribution status of the native and endangered red squirrel and pine martens across the Ring of Gullion area.
